Slade never was one for Halloween. His students were all for it, his family when he was a kid made him do it, and he just didn't see a point. Still didn't, but he was a teacher now, and he had to not only humor his students, but his boss and equals as well. He didn't like the fact people sometimes covered their faces, it made him think everyone didn't want to be seen for who they were, but really, that was the case for most people. I don't know about you, but I like to be things I'm not on Halloween, and that's exactly what Slade hated. He was nervous enough when someone snuck up behind him in a hallway, the last thing he needed was children running everyone begging for free stuff when he couldn't tell one from another. He was glad most of the kids here were grown enough not to beg, but they still wore masks, much to his chagrin.
So, he decided early in the day if he couldn't beat them, he would join them, so to speak. He didn't like costumes, but on occasion he did like baggy jeans and shirts with dancing skeletons on them. Very Muggle, but then again, he was just a fancy Muggle, so what difference did it make? His jeans were straight legged and loose. He had to wear a belt to keep them up, and his shirt was gray, the skeletons outlined in black. His belt held studs, and his shoes matched the skeletons and the belt in color. He wore no socks, and he had his hair falling in his face, and he strapped a black mask to his face, he put his wand in his pocket, and made a slow decent to the town below where he was now. He looked rather displeased, but he wasn't in terrible spirits, or not yet at least. His pace was slow, and his eyes were slightly squinted in the late afternoon glow.
As he reached the village, students ran about. Some acknowledging him, others slamming into him and running off before he said anything. He probably wouldn't have anyhow, but regardless, he could have. Though, that being said, he could have done a lot of things, but did he? No, he didn't. He walked, and he got a drink from the Three Broomsticks, leaving with it in hand. He found a place against a wall, and he watched the others move about the village. Most students looked overjoyed to be out here, and for that he was glad. His eye was watchful, and he wasn't sure what to expect for the evening, but for the time being, he was placid enough to have a small smile on his face as he enjoyed his drink.

Kiara was so happy that it was Halloween. It was her favorite holiday of the year. It was the only time when she could wear whatever she wanted and no one could tell her anything. Of course, she liked to wear crazy clothes every other day of the year, but Halloween gave her an excuse for it. She had showered earlier in the day and it made her relax. She was so glad she didn't have any classes to worry about. All the students were excited about the festival in Hogsmeade and didn't give a second thought about class. She liked it that way. She loved teaching, but at the same time, she loved the days she had to herself. She had made a special trip to the muggle world to get her costume together.
Standing in front of her mirror, she curled the ends of her hair with her wand and did her nails and make-up. None of the wizards were going to know what a pin-up girl was, but she didn't really mind. They never really bothered with muggle things anyway. That was their choice. As her nails dried, She waved her wand in the direction of her closet and made her costume appear and land on her bed. It was a light gray and black corset with a matching black mini skirt. She had also gotten black stilletto heels to go with it. It was things like that, that made her happy. Some said she looked trashy, or whore-like, but she thought she looked tasteful in those clothes. They weren't made for just anyone.
When her nails were finally dry, she pulled off the clothes that she was wearing and pulled the corset on, magic lacing it up for her. Skirt pulled up and heels on, she tucked her wand away and gave herself a once over before heading out of the school and down to Hogsmeade. Being so used to walking through the grounds in heels, she had no problem getting there without falling. Practice always made perfect. As she walked into the village, she smiled and looked at all the students running around and enjoying themselves. She missed days like that. If she was home with her friends, then she'd be doing silly things just like them, but she was here instead.
Detouring to the Hog's Head, she got a tall glass of firewhiskey to make her night even better. It was a good night to have a little fun. She probably wouldn't have a night like this for a while. She had to enjoy it as much as she could. As she made her way back up the road, she took small sips from her glass and looked around. She knew the rumors going around and that was why all the teachers were in the village. She didn't know if they were true, but it was better to be safe than sorry. Glancing to her side, she saw a familiar figure and walked over to it. "Hello Slade," she smiled.
She hadn't seen her fellow professor in a while and it was good that he was out for the night as well. It was something that she knew he could use. She look him over and gave him a curious look. "And what are you supposed to be?" she asked, taking another sip from her glass. She wasn't exactly sure what it was he was trying to be, but it wasn't really working. She wasn't about to judge his costume, but he should've thought it out better.

One would think with the way he was, he would be a drunk or something else of the like, but was he? No, he hardly ever drank, he just sort of had that look. He spent his time in the dark, alone, reading or watching the outside world be normal. He'd been normal once, but he didn't remember when that was. He was now paranoid, scared and alone. He kept himself away from people to avoid heartbreak, death and anything else that could be thought of as a normal emotion. His fear of people was irrational to the extreme, but he didn't really care now, he could have, but he didn't.
He looked out at the students who passed, and it made him reflect on things the Headmaster had said to the staff before the party. The times weren't going to be the same forever, he was so cryptic at times, but he knew it was wise to just trust Dumbledore. He was Dumbledore, and that was something to not snort at. The other professors might have not taken as much heed to the words, but Slade took them to heart, he felt like he had to, he had students to protect.
And, as he leaned and contemplated things, he didn't know what he wanted. He wanted to make sure those who threatened his students would pay, but if it came down to an all out war, and people started killing his kind, and muggles and anything related, did he want to live in fear that he would be next? He was fearful enough as it was, and he didn't like the thoughts.
So, thankfully, his thoughts were broken. He blinked, and he focused on the girl approaching him. He didn't know what she was, but it seemed neutral, she didn't know what he was either. He wasn't anything, figuratively or literally really. He wasn't ever anything, what should change on Halloween. "Kiara." He acknowledged. He swallowed, and he looked down at his feet.
He didn't want to stare at her, he could see others staring, it was the object of an outfit like that, but he didn't want to be one of those men. They were rude, and he wasn't rude, he was awkward, but not rude. He smiled lightly, looking down over his outfit. He did look funny, he always did. He shrugged, "I'm a lonely middle aged Muggleborn with no fashion sense or love of Halloween." He said with a smile. "And yourself? You look...lovely." He said, the words seeming strange to him.

Kiara smiled slightly when she noticed Slade look away from her, when he saw what she was wearing. She wasn't really surprised but his reaction. For Slade, he was probably embarrassed for her. Kiara didn't care. If she had some pasties, she'd probably walk around naked. She was proud of the way she looked and liked wearing things that showed it off. He was always a sweet man, and she appreciated him not gawking. Yeah, she liked the attention, but some guys could just be too much. Their eyes would be every where BUT her eyes, and some times it was annoying. At least with Slade, she knew if he wasn't looking at the ground, he'd actually be looking into her eyes. That was what she admired the most about him. As awkward as he was, he was kind.
She smiled at his answer and let out a small laugh. "Well, fashion sense or not, it's a very nice costume," she said sincerely. He could pull of the silliest of looks and it would work for him. "And I'm sure the mask is to hide your identity...correct?" She took a couple steps closer to him as some students ran behind her. The last thing she needed was to topple over. That wouldn't end well for anyone. When he questioned her, she cocked an eyebrow. "You don't know?" she questioned. She was a little surprised, especially since he was muggle born, but then again...it didn't really surprise her. "I'm a muggle Pin-Up girl," she said, with a big smile. "Bettie Page was always my favorite." (OOC: here's what bettie page looks like xD)
She looked around and crossed her arms. "Has everything looked pretty normal?" she asked, eyes still scanning the village grounds around them. The rumors could definitely be true and they didn't need to happen. They didn't need anything happening on a night that was supposed to be enjoyed by everyone. But she couldn't argue with the Headmaster. He pretty much spoke the truth. There was no way these rumors would be a lie. Plus, she knew some of her students were off-springs of the bloody Death Eaters. She heard some conversations that shouldn't have been spoken about. The children had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
No sooner did she think that, there was a loud explosion behind her. She quickly whipped around. "What the bloody hell was that?!" she exclaimed, pulling her wand out. It was completely rhetorical, though. She knew exactly what it was. "They're starting early," she muttered. She wasn't expecting it to happen this quickly. Sure, a couple hours had passed, but still! They were crazy. She glanced back at Slade over her shoulder. "Looks like we get to kick some ass, Slade," she said with a smirk. Even dressed as a pin-up girl, she was excited to beat some asshole up.
