[/size]Ruben sat underneath a large tree with a stack of sheets grading horrible paper after horrible paper; seriously, monkeys could do better than this. He slashed numerous times along the piece of parchment before putting a grade at the top that would surely not make the refrigerator, then moved on to the next paper. Ruben loved teaching, honestly he did. He enjoyed instilling useful knowledge into shaping young minds, especially in a class that will actually help them in the future, unlike his co-worker Slade’s class which is a class dedicated to the un-magical rift raft that was muggles. Filling children’s head with useless information about automobiles and blenders was simply ridiculous. When they are ready to leave school and get a job, knowing the function of a vacuum will not help them in a job interview. Potions was a rock solid subject that would live on far past when all the muggles are killed off and are nothing more than pages in a history textbook for Slades class.
Ruben liked working in his office but found it nice to be outside when he knew students wouldn’t be out there. Often when he wasn’t teaching a class and everyone else was in class. It was peaceful out here and Ruben could keep his mind clear. It was when students began showing up and being unruly, he was forced to pack up his bags and head back to his dungeon. Ruben couldn’t understand how kids did so awful in potions, it was a class they would make use out of for the rest of their lives and they blow it off. Ruben was known for detentions and point deductions so he wasn’t very liked among students. He much preferred punishment above reward. He didn’t feel that kids needed incentive or rewards to complete tasks they should be doing anyway. However if they fail to do the task they were assigned they should be punished.
Ruben ran his hand through his hair, pushing the few fly away pieces from his eyes and back into place. He sighed as he scribbled another grade at the top of a poorly written paper. These kids had so much potential but they didn’t try. Ruben had always been a stickler for school. His parents made sure he did well and made sure he put school before everything. He didn’t have a lot of time for fun because he was constantly studying and doing work. That could explain his horrible attitude now, but he probably picked that up from his father, like father like son after all. Ruben lacked a connection to anyone in the school, sure he talked to a few people and had a history with a few, but as far as really getting to know someone, he had never found the desire. If he had a better attitude he might be more liked, but Ruben wasn’t about to go changing himself for anyone.
