It seemed as if whatever he and his friends threw the Dark Lord’s way he simply side-stepped the attacks and retaliated with a much stronger curse of his own. It was frustrating when you knew that you were fighting a losing battle, the outcome was very grim indeed but Alex believed that if they just gave up and gave in to the self-proclaimed Dark Lord than that’d be the same, if not worse, than turning tail and running away—it was cowardly. The partly was primarily made up of Gryffindors, there wasn’t a cowardice bone in their bodies, or at least that’s what people would’ve liked to think, but the truth was was that he was just as scared as anyone else would’ve been if put in this situation. However he refused to act on his fear and instead looked to Juliet and the rest of his friends for the bravery to stand there and fight, even if there was no way for them to emerge victorious from this battle at least they were standing up for themselves until the very end. He felt Juliet’s fingers slip through his, it was a comforting gesture and he felt the intense need to protect her with his life. The young Gryffindor didn’t care what happened to him but he would never be able to live with himself if something were to happen to Juliet…” He bit his lip, staring down at her with watery and unfocused dark eyes.
“Diffindo”
Before he knew what had hit him Alex was torn away from Juliet and was on his knees, clutching at his chest where the curse had hit him, it burned with an intense pain and when he chanced a glance down he noticed that a deep slash had appeared, gaping and bleeding profusely, soaking through his tshirt almost instantly. His fingers, as well as his clothing, were soaked and stained dark crimson as he applied pressure to the wound to attempt to stop the bleeding.
He watched in horrified fascination as a ring of fire surrounded his best friend before she was hit by the torture curse. He cried out pathetically, both in pain from his own wound and horror from witnessing the pain and torture his best friend was going through. At that moment it was difficult for him to believe that they’d make it out of this alive, for whatever reason, Voldemort had singled out the teens present at Potter’s Party and didn’t seem like he was going to leave them alone anytime soon…
And almost as soon as he had thought that particular thought…the ring of fire surrounding Juliet dispersed and the Dark Lord had vanished. He paused for a moment, as if he didn’t believe what was happening, before crawling over to Juliet, one hand still pressed firmly against his chest while he used the other one to help him crawl towards her. “Jules? Jules, are you okay?
He was so caught up with making sure that Juliet was still alive that he barely had time to register the fact that Sirius had ditched them all and taken off with his bike.[/blockquote]
