i feel like dancin' tonight
It was the weekend and Christopher was bored out of his mind. All his work was done and there was nothing really to do. Thankfully for him, it happened to be a Hogsmeade weekend. He figured he'd go down and buy some things that he really didn't need and maybe get somethings for his parents. He hadn't bothered with a letter home in a while, so he figured some gifts might be nice. Plus, that Halloween festival was coming up and he needed a fun costume for that year. He still wasn't too sure what he was going to be, but he figured he'd make it something from the muggle world. It'd confuse all the other kids. He smirked to himself. Not many people would know what it was, unless they were muggleborn or were actually interested in them.
Grabbing a book, he made sure he had some money before throwing his jacket on. He headed out of the common room and through the empty halls. He moved quickly, so he was out of the school pretty quick. He never took his time when he was on his way to Hogsmeade. He preferred it there, than the school. He didn't mind learning, but he liked the break every now and then. Plus, in the village, he didn't have to worry about teachers popping up around every corner. Sure, he figured they'd come down for something, but he never bothered them and he behaved himself.
Reaching the village, he weaved through all the other Hogwarts students. He felt bad for his siblings. They were still too young to come. He always got them treats from Honeydukes, though. They didn't need to miss out, just because they couldn't go. He hit all they shops he needed to and soon found himself heading over to the Three Broomsticks. A drink could definitely be good. So, shrugging to himself, he pushed the door open and headed inside. Going right to the bar, he got a butterbeer and was lucky enough to find an empty table. He was slightly surprised. The pub was pretty full, so he wasn't really expecting to see an empty table just sitting there. Plopping down in the chair, he took a sip from his mug, and set his things on the table. Opening his book, he dove into the story. He couldn't just sit there without any entertainment.

Even though Prudence would prefer to spend her time in the Hogwarts Library surrounded by her books she still enjoyed going out to Hogsmeade when the time came. The fresh air was always great and refreshing, a complete 180 compared to the stuffy library. Prudence had to inform Madam Pince that she was going on the Hogsmeade trip a week prior due to her helping out in the library every weekend. There would hardly be anyone in the library due to trip, but she still felt the need to inform her she wouldn’t be in. Prudence was what most people would call responsible.
The girl didn’t have many friends, mostly just people she’d smile at or say hi to when passing them in the hall. She had never come to Hogsmeade with someone else before, which sounded completely sad and pathetic. Prudence had never really put herself out there, so what could she expect? Besides, she didn’t come to Hogsmeade to be dragged into shops she could care less about. She usually checked out the bookstore first, the stores that sold potion ingredients second, and then completely lost herself in all the boutiques and clothing stores until it was time to go back. Prudence was a full blown shopaholic and spent money like it grew on trees.
It was a little past noon when the fifth year Ravenclaw decided to stop and get something to drink before she started to go into boutiques. She had already gotten a few books and some much needed potion ingredients. Now it was time for a Butterbeer before she got completely caught up in her shopping – once she started it was hard to get her to stop. She was like a kid in a candy store. She wanted – no, needed to have everything. Since her parents didn’t spoil her – a girl had to spoil herself.
Prudence opened the door to the inn and was immediately thinking about going back due to its over crowdedness. She didn’t expect anything less, but this was crazy. She didn’t even know if she would have anywhere to sit. Prudence shrugged and walked in, she might as well stay since she was here. She was only getting a butterbeer – it wouldn’t take too long for her to drink the delicious butterscotch tasting liquid and be on her way. “Excuse me,” Prudence said softly as she pushed pass people to try and get to the bar. Once she was there she ordered her butterbeer. While waiting for the drink she looked around, trying to see if there was a free seat anywhere. Mostly everyone here was in groups, she noted. They were all laughing and having a great time. Prudence frowned and began to feel left out. They all had someone and here she way all by her lonesome.
Her drink was placed in front of her and she smiled at the man appreciatively, paying for the drink and giving him a two galleon tip. Turning her head she noticed a free seat across from a guy who was reading. He seemed to be student aged. She debated with herself for a moment, should she go over there? The worst thing that could happen is him telling her ‘no she couldn’t sit with him’. Prudence hated being told no, but she knew she had to take her chances or else stand here and drink her butterbeer. Making her decision, she picked up her glass and made her way over. “Hi, um…sorry for interrupting.” She started, flashing him a smile. “Do you mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full. I promise I won’t interrupt your reading.”

i feel like dancin' tonight
Christopher was avid reading as he sat, drinking his butterbeer. He hated finding books he'd never read, and that was what had happened a couple days ago. He was hanging out in the library, looking through all the books. He had read most of them. That was how he spent his free time. And after a while of wandering, he had found one book he hadn't seen before. He wasn't exactly sure what it was about, but it was interesting. Seemed to be something about old spells and whatnot. Whatever, it had caught his attention. He frowned when he noticed his cup was empty, and waved down a worker, happy that she could refill his glass.
As he turned the page, he heard someone walking towards him. He didn't think anything of it. People had been walking by him the whole time he was in there. Everyone coming in was meeting a friend so he wasn't really bothered to see who it was that was passing him. When he got his full mug, he continued back to his book. It was only a few minutes later, that someone else walked to his table and stopped. That rose his curiousity slightly. Then she spoke. He looked up when she did and gave her a returning smile. "You're not interuppting at all," he said, sitting up better in the chair. He hadn't realized that he was slumped down in it.
"Please," he gestured to the empty chair, "have a seat." He looked at her curiously. She looked familar. He knew he'd seen her around school, but that was obvious. There was some place else that he had seen her, but he just couldn't put his finger on it. Conjuring a bookmark, he set it in the book and put it aside. "I don't mind my reading being interrupted at all. I'm Chris," he said, smile still on his face. If she was going to sit with him, she might at well know who he is. Maybe then, he'll be able to figure out who she is. It was only a matter of time.

Prudence was glad she wasn't being a bother to him by interrupting him and asking to sit down. He said she wasn’t interrupting him, but she still felt like she was. She smiled wider when he sat up in the chair, it was a small gesture but she thought that was very gentlemanly. Prudence was glad he was one of the nicer people around because if she asked someone like her brothers to sit down she was pretty sure they would laugh in her face and steal her butterbeer. It was stupid, but she knew that to be true of her brothers. They weren’t the nice overprotective brothers most people took for granted, they were the complete the opposite. She was pretty much labeled a blood traitor by her family due to her liking muggles and muggle things. Personally Prudence hates blood discrimination and her family knows that, another reason she is such an outcast when it came to her family for they truly valued blood and riches above anything else. She had yet to be disowned though, maybe they were still holding out that this was just a phase.
“Thank you.” Prudence sat down across from the cute boy after he invited her to sit down. She briefly looked him over now that she had a better view. She hoped it hadn’t been too obvious but she was trying to figure out who he was. There was no doubt in her mind that he was a student, but as for his name and house she couldn’t place it. She watched as he marked his book and placed it down. Hmm, guess that meant there would be time for small talk, that was good – it was better than just sitting there awkwardly across from someone she didn’t know who was busy reading. Once again she noted to herself that he was a gentleman.
The Ravenclaw fifth year smiled again when he introduced himself. Chris, so the handsome gentleman had a name. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Prudence.” She wondered if she should give them her last name too, but decided against it. She didn’t want to come off as a pureblood snob, plus she didn’t want to be judged based on her last name. Being a Flint wouldn’t be too bad if your brothers weren’t complete douche bags and your dad wasn’t a Death Eater. Her family name had too many bad associations with it. Most people wondered how she turned out differently than her family, but Prudence knew that it was based mostly on her late grandmother’s influences from a young age. “What house are you in?” the brunette asked truly interested in his answer.

Chris smiled at her thanks. "Oh, it's no problem at all. I was wondering if someone would ever join me," he said with a small laugh. "But everyone seemed busy with friends." True. Alex hadn't been feeling all too well that day, so Chris had come to the village with out him. Of course, with a promise of a treat from Honeydukes as well. They never left empty handed. He took another sip of his butterbeer, not wanting to finish it too quickly this time, and looked the girl over again. He was surprised someone this cute hadn't been snatched up by some pig. Surely, it'd only be for some attention, but still. He smirked slightly when she looked him over. He couldn't blame her, he was quite adorable. Alex told him enough.
When the girl gave him her name, his eyebrow rose slightly. Prudence. He had heard it somewhere before. Somewhere in the school. "Nice to meet you too." He'd figure it out eventually. Right now, he was happy just talking to her and possibly making a new friend. That was really all he was interested in. "I'm in Ravenclaw, sixth year," he replied, leaning forward in his chair a bit. "And what about you, miss Prudence?" Maybe now he'd be able to put it all together. He drank some more, and waited patiently.

Prudence couldn’t agree more with what Chris said, everyone was busy with friends. “They are.” She agreed. “Such lovely displays yet they can make a person on the outside feel so alone.” The Ravenclaw girl hoped she didn’t sound too pathetic. She was alone, and she should be used to it by now but couldn’t help to feel jealous when she noticed people laughing in groups and enjoying their friends company. Prudence wasn’t the type to get jealous, so she immediately disliked the feeling. She wondered if she could play it off not as jealousy, but more as a longing. A longing for companionship, but she only found herself having that in the muggle world. That’s why when she finally graduated from Hogwarts she was going to leave the wizarding world behind and completely migrate into the muggle world. She would continue to do ballet and travel – going to different places to perfect her craft and learn from those talented and gifted in that specific art of dance.
Eventually she wanted to open her own ballet studio in central London, but alas, that was just a dream. Prudence loved dreaming and was very imaginative. Even though that was what she dreamed – she had fears as well. She feared that she would not be able to part with the wizarding world – that maybe her parents would find some way to bring her back and marry her off to what they considered a respectable pureblood so their daughter wouldn’t be a complete disgrace to their name. Luckily her parents just pretty much ignored her for the time being. Prudence took a sip of her butterbeer and was truly glad she had decided to stay for the delicious tasting drink instead of leaving due to the over crowdedness of the inn.
As she sat the glass on the table she let out a small laugh after he had given his house and year. A sixth year Ravenclaw. They were in the same house, and he was only one year above her – yet they didn’t even know each other. Did she spend that much time in the library? She knew the answer to be yes. “I’m in Ravenclaw as well,” she revealed. “Fifth year.” She smiled at him once more. “I hate to say it but I spend most of my time in the library – probably too much of it.” She wanted to roll her eyes at herself but refrained from doing so. “No wonder I didn’t know your name.” Prudence usually remembered people’s names as she thought it to be a nice friendly gesture and a sign of respect.

i feel like dancin' tonight
As Prudence spoke, Chris glanced around the pub. She was right. It was a lovely display but he did feel alone. He never usually came to the village by himself, so it was a little wierd. Alex was always with him. How he missed his company. Right now, they'd be laughing and making fun of the other students making fools of themselves in the pub around them.
But the silly boy was not feeling his best. He was surprised that he didn't send an owl to his mum. She would've sent him a package of all kinds of goodies to make him feel better. He smiled slightly at the thought and turned his attention back to the adorable girl in front of him.
When she told him her house, he was able to put more together. So she was a Raven. A year below him, but in the same house. That's why he had seen her around the common room often. He'd seen her, he just never knew her name. Then she said that she spent most of her time in the library. "The library? Really?" He was intriqued now.
"No wonder why you looked so familiar," he said with a smile. "I'm in there every chance I get." Now he knew where else he had seen her. He was never really sure if it was her, but he was never gonna just go up to her and ask. He liked to just know people. "Any free chance I get when I'm not wrapped up in class or with my friend."
Alex had been keeping him busy with merlin knows what, and he's not gonna turn away his best friend just to go to the library and read. The books could always wait when it came to him. Or class. He was one of the few that actually enjoyed going to class and learning. He was a natural nerd.

Prudence carefully watched Chris, trying to get a feel for the kind of person he was. She could already tell that he was genuinely kind and such a gentleman, but there was definitely more to him. The brunette couldn’t help but to raise an eyebrow at the small smile that formed on the sixth year Ravenclaw’s face. It appeared right after she mentioned how alone everyone made her feel. That could only mean he either trying not to laugh, or he was thinking of someone. He didn’t seem like the type that would laugh so directly in another person’s face so it had to be the latter. “Thinking of someone?” she asked softly, hoping she wasn’t prying.
The brunette laughed softly after he questioned her being in the library. He sounded interested, which was good, she didn’t want to seem like someone boring who wasted their life reading books. “Yeah, I love the library. I rather be there than anywhere else in the Castle.” Great…now she sounded like a nerd. “I sound like such a nerd.” She voiced her thoughts. “Hogwarts is such a magical place, and there I am just drowning in the library.” Prudence smiled softly while taking a sip of her butterbeer.
“Are you really?” her tone was that of surprise, but her smile never faltered. So he was a person who liked to read. She should’ve known considering that was what he was doing before she interrupted him. “I wish I could say I’ve seen you in there but Im always wrapped up in my own little world when I’m in the library.” That was true, she would always sit down in her usual comfy chair in the back of the library when she wanted to read. When she did school work she preferred a table that was away from most of the library population. She was glad they had something in common besides being in Ravenclaw. “I help Madam Pince out on weekends.” Prudence shared.
“How come your friend isn’t here with you?” she wondered, there could be many possibility for the reason he or she wasn’t here. Prudence blushed. “Sorry, that was none of my business.” Prudence inwardly scowled at herself, could she be anymore nosy? Where his friend was at the moment was no business of her’s.

i feel like dancin' tonight
When Christopher was thinking of Alex, his smiled appeared out of habit. He was sure he looked like a fool, sitting there smiling. He looked at Prudence and nodded slightly at her question. "Yeah, I am," he said, taking another sip of his butterbeer. He couldn't help himself. His mood would be better whenever he thought about his best friend. He was the only thing that made him that way. Even when they were younger, Alex always put him in a good mood. But he knew he had to hide it from his parents and Alex's parents. They could never know how they felt about each other.
He let out a small chuckle as she spoke about the library and nodded in agreement. He loved it there. "You sound like a huge nerd," he laughed. "I'm just as much as a nerd. My friend always makes fun of me every time I leave the library. I'm in there just as often as I hang out with him." It was the truth. If he wasn't in class or with Alex, he was in the library with his nose in aa book. He didn't care what it was about or who wrote it. As long as it was a book, he was happy. He had learned tons of things he'd never imagine learning.
He nodded again. "Yeah, I am," he smiled. He waved her statement off. "With bookworms like us, we usually don't notice our surroundings. So it's fine that you might not have seen me in there. I've notice you when I go in, but that's about it." He never really found a reason to go and speak with her. He knew where all the books were located, so he never needed any help. Then she spoke about helping Madam Pince. That was how he sort of knew her. He was always making small talk with Madam Pince and he could vaguely remember a younger girl coming and asking her questions.
When she questioned about his friend, he was a little surprised. Not many people would even care. He was a little touched that she actually was asking. "Oh hush, it's quite alright," he smiled. "He's just got a cold and the bugger is such a baby about it," he laughed. Alex was one to milk things like that to get more attention. He admired him for it.

Prudence couldn’t help but to notice Chris’ smile, and when he confirmed it was because he was thinking of someone she had to fight the urge to ask who. She had just met him asking who he was thinking of was getting way too personal. For one thing it was probably someone he fancied. Prudence even smiled big when she thought of someone she fancied, of course she currently didn’t fancy anyone at the moment. Not since the fling she had the past summer with that muggle boy, the thought actually saddened her and she suddenly missed him. Prudence didn’t tell anyone about him considering she didn’t really speak to anyone on such a friendship level and her family – that was a joke. She could just picture telling her dad about the muggle, he would probably shoot the killing curse in her direction and then go out and kill the muggle and his whole family. That may sound a little extreme, but you hadn’t met her father. He was ruthless and capable of anything.
Prudence never thought being called a nerd was a compliment, but the way he said it made it seem as if it was a good thing. Usually when people threw the word out there it was in either a mean or teasing way. Prudence took a sip of her butterbeer before smiling at him. She listened to what he was saying. “I personally can’t get enough of the library. It’s never boring – there’s so many books to be read.” Books were adventurous, they told stories and made the reader go to a different place and would always turn out good in the end. That’s why fairytales appealed to her so much – there was always a happy ending. Prudence didn’t know what kind of ending her life would have but she hoped it would be like one right out of a fairytale. The Ravenclaw grinned. “What is that one about?” she motioned to the book Chris had been reading before she sat down.
Prudence smiled gratefully. “Next time I go to the library I’ll be sure to look for you and say hi.” She hoped she hadn’t sounded like a stalker or anything in that nature. Meeting someone and then randomly scoping them out. Some people may be creeped out by something like that.
The fifth year Ravenclaw decided that she liked Chris’ smile, he smiled at her a lot and it was refreshing. Books were good company, but they couldn’t exactly smile back at a person. Well, actually Prudence was sure some could – just not the ones she read. Prudence laughed. “And you’re not there to nurse him back to full health? Shame on you.” she teased, feeling more at ease and more comfortable talking to the older boy. “At least tell me you’re going to bring him back something from Honeydukes.” What kind of friend would Chris be if he didn’t bring his sick friend some sweets from the best sweet shop in all of Scotland?
