Lily breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped through the portal, finally in a world that was begining to become all too familiar to her. This was a new year, and a new, clean slate. She would not have Severus by her side to assist her with the upcoming months, as she would have thought three months ago. No. Thanks to Potter and his little band of misfits, that would not happen. She was on her own, her only company being the many books and teachings that Hogwarts had to offer her.
She had made it a goal since her first year to become Head Girl, and all of her hard work over the years would soon pay off. Just one more year and she knew the Head Girl position would be hers. She needed no distractions this year. She needed to make Professor Dumbledore realize just how good of a student she really was, both in academics and in respectable behavior. No distractions were needed from Potter, none from Snape, and certainly none from the previous three months. This past summer had been the worst yet, in Lily's opinion. Instead of spending the summer with her parents, sister, and her sister's fiance, Bernard Dursley, or whatever his name was, she had set off to find herself a new home, unsuccessful in the first few weeks. After a while, she had found an available room at the Leaky Cauldron, and had made a deal with the owner. As long as she worked for the owner, Tom, she could live there. Simple as that.
My, how disappointed her parents would be to see her situation now.
Lily's chest ached as she boarded the train, looking through the filling compartments one by one, searching for one where she could sit in solitude. She needed a moment to think, to compose herself. Finally, after a long period of searching, she found what she needed. She closed the door to the compartment firmly, placed her bags above her seat, and stood, staring out the window. Mums and Dads kissed their young ones goodbye, some among the first years, others almost as old as she, even older. She blinked furiously to keep the threatening tears from escaping. She had not cried since her sister spat the news in her face. She would not allow them to fall by watching other families say their goodbyes.
She noticed several familiar faces, a few friends, some bitter rivals. It all seemed petty to her now, to worry about such childish things as the latest gossip, who was supposed to be dating whom and whether or not they looked lovely together or not. What mattered was the situation at hand, the constant news about Lord Voldemort, whether he was any closer to victory or to demise. Lily was eager to fight, to have these final two years over with and done so that she could help both of her worlds. It wasn't just the wizarding community anymore, but the entire world. They needed to-
The sound of the compartment door cut off her thoughts, and she turned to inquire as to who had the audacity to enter the compartment and interrupt her momentary sanctuary...

Remus drew in a deep, calming breath upon reaching Kings Cross on time—he had had quite the scare that morning, waking up later than what he would have liked, thus causing him to rush frantically around his room, checking and rechecking to make sure he had packed everything that he would need for the new semester. Yes, he had been on the same routine for the past week and a half—packing and repacking his trunk to ensure that nothing of importance would be left behind, but you could never be too sure. And Remus was determined to not leave anything that he would need this year behind on accident.
His eyes roved over the tops of the crowds of students and their families, watching as they bid each other farewell with promises to write often and visit over the holidays. Remus had gotten his goodbyes out of the way the night before, and that morning before he had left the house, his mother wasn’t feeling very well and while she would have come to the station to see him off Remus politely told her that she should stay home and rest. The last thing he wanted was for her cold to turn into something far worse all because she had decided to leave the confines of their home and venture out into the chilled city air.
He half hoped to catch a glimpse of James or Sirius, or even Peter and would admit to feeling a tad disappointed when he didn’t spot James’ head of untidy dark hair, or the flock of girls that usually surrounded Sirius. Letting a small sigh pass over his parted lips, Remus headed towards the Hogwarts Express, dragging his trunk behind him. The owl cage positioned neatly atop his trunk rattled and a very discomforted tawny barn owl hooted in displeasure, wordlessly urging him to be more gentle with her.
“Sorry ‘bout that Gladys. ” Remus apologized with a tired smile, handing her cage over to the man loading the train with students’ belongings. Like every other year, he promised her that he’d see her as soon as they reached the castle, though he was unsure as to whether or not she understood his comforting message, he liked to think that she did. Now came the difficult task of finding an unoccupied compartment—or, if he was lucky enough, finding a compartment that was occupied by his best mates. Though he wasn’t going to hold his breath, it was still rather early and he knew his friends well enough to know that they’d show up at the last possible minute. It was usually his job to secure a compartment anyway, they relied on him being early to the train station because it meant that they didn’t have to be. Remus found himself shuffling down the long corridor of the train cars checking each compartment, unfortunately most of them were already full. His lips twitched into a small frown, looks like he wasn’t the only one who had decided to get to Kings Cross a little early this year… However, he found his luck taking a turn for the better when he peered into the glass window of the nearest compartment and spotted a familiar shock of red. Knocking on the doorframe twice to announce his entrance before sliding the compartment door open and slipping inside and offering his fellow Prefect a friendly smile, “ Good morning, Lily. Do you mind? It seems as if all the other compartments are already full.” [/blockquote]

Lily scowled deeply upon seeing Remus Lupin in her compartment. It was already a given fact that luck eluded her; she didn't need the presence of the Marauders to prove that fact. Lily greeted him with a cold nod, "Lupin." She couldn't help it. She almost growled at the sight of his friendly smile, bitter and angry with him for being so happy when he had aided in a portion of her misery. "As a matter of fact, I do mind. I'm not exactly fond of the idea of sharing a compartment with the imbecilic quartet."
Lily stared at the boy before her, wondering how he was able to live with himself. When he looked in the mirror, did he see what he was? Did he see just how hurtful of a person he was, how hurtful he could be? She knew that he had not directly attacked Severus, but doing nothing about it was just as bad as pointing the wand at the victim himself. Did he realize that?
"Did you get the Prefect position again?" Lily asked coldly, "Merlin knows Dumbledore thinks you hung the moon. Did he give it back to you, knowing you were just as bad, if not worse, than Potter?" If the Headmaster had given him the position again, he would lose a lot of respect from Lily. She idolized the man, but if he was unable to acknowledge Remus' previous abuses of power, than he was madder than she had first thought. "Where's the rest of Potter's posse, anyway? I figured you'd all want to get a few good taunts and hexes in before the school year started." She glanced behind Lupin, checking to see if they were behind him, looming in the shadows. It was impossible to tell many times, as they had a knack for making themselves invisible when they wanted to.
It didn't make her feel any better, lashing out at Remus. It was his fault, partially, but that didn't mean that she had to talk his ear off as soon as she saw him. She thought that by venting, some of the pressure, the anger, the bitterness would float off her shoulders, but she was wrong. It only trudged up more unwanted memories, more hateful feelings. She didn't like being such a negative person, but in the presence of one - or all - of the Marauders, it was impossible to hold back. She turned away from Lupin, staring at the families on the platform once more. One family in particular caught her eye. A little girl with reddish-brown hair was hugging her parents, one by one, but when she moved on to her older brother, she cringed. The look on the boys face showed a hate Lily had seen in only one other person. Only, this little boy did not spit on his sister; he merely sneered, saying what was sure to be several harsh words.
It was like looking into a mirror of the past, only slightly different. The girl had gone back to her parents for one more embrace, and Lily's eyes stung. She blinked rapidly, trying to dispell the tears before they came. That was something she could never have again. She could never hug her Mum before she left for Hogwarts again, and she could never cling to her father as he told her to be careful and to inform him of any troublesome boys in the hope of using his new gun. And, as hard as it was for her to admit, Tuney was right. It was her fault that her parents died.

EVERYONE THINKS THAT I HAVE IT ALLC A S T L E W A L L SBUT IT'S SO E M P T Y LIVING BEHIND THESE Sirius could have cared less if families hated him. He hated them, and they could do as they pleased. He was the one who hurt their daughters, and he was the one their boys hated and wished they were, so it was all good to be him, and sucked to be them. Such was life. He, on top of all that, was a blood traitor. So, some did hate him for those reasons too, he didn't like to be called names, but if one had to label him, he was that, and a whore, so he guessed it didn't matter too much. He had heard worse names he supposed, Blood Traitor was the least of his worries.
So, now? It was time for a brand new spankin school year, and he strutted into the Platform at King's Cross like he owned the place. His hips swayed as he walked, and he kept his head up. His trunk rolled behind him, and he had a jacket covering his bald shoulders. His boot buckles jingled as he walked, and he had a smirk that could break hearts on his face right this second. He flipped his hair over his shoulders, and he pulled his worn jacket closer around him. It was good to be home.
His eyes started to scan the groups around him, and he smiled to some girls. High-fived some males, and he kept moving. His usual crowd wasn't with him right this second, and he found it odd being alone. He didn't like it. He wanted to find someone to be around. He kept his head high, and he pulled off his glasses as he started to get on the train. He folded them into their resting position, and he slipped them into his pocket.
He could hear voices he knew. Glad to hear one of them, not so much so to hear the other. He saw Remus standing in the doorway of a car, and he kicked his trunk near Remus', and he slide up beside him. "Ello Moony!" He said with a squeeze to the smaller boy's shoulders, "See you found us a...This one's infested, we can't sit here." He said, motioning towards the girl in the car. She spoke to him, and she spoke to him rudely, no one spoke to his best mate like that unless it was him, and he decided at that second, they were staying in that car, whether the girl liked it or not.
"Look here, Evans, you're going to learn who you're speaking to, yeah? Remus is ten times the Prefect, friend and Gryffindor you'll ever be." He snapped, putting his luggage in the car, and reaching back for Remus' stuff. He lowered himself in the seat next to her, and he smirked to himself as she mentioned hexing others. "Here's a nice hex for you." He said as he lifted his left leg, and let out a rather disgusting noise. He inhaled deeply, "Smell that? It smells like defeat."

Oh hey, didn't see you there, Guess what I just did Had sex, undressed, saw her boobies and the rest His smile faltered as she spoke to him in a less than friendly tone, honestly? He was a little surprised by her apparent hostility towards him, yeah he could see how she may have been peeved by the thought of James or even Sirius joining them but he didn’t see why she felt the need to take her rage out on him when all he had done was smile and act as polite as ever towards her. Remus didn’t have a problem with Lily and so she shouldn’t have had one with him—so what if he was best friends with James and Sirius? He shouldn’t be judged by who he was friends with, he was still his own person. Though he didn’t take into consideration that she may have been sore at him for the year before when he hadn’t stepped in and done anything to stop his mates from attacking Snape but…really, the slimey git had it coming! Her judgement was simply clouded by the fact that she was used to be friends with Snape.
“Er…excuse me? ” His lips tipped into a frown, feeling her loathing towards him and his mates rolling off of her in waves, it was a little overwhelming. Remus wasn’t used to having someone from his own house angry towards him—especially when he hadn’t done anything wrong in the first place. “ I’ve never doubted Dumbledore’s judgment and neither should you. Whether you see it or not, he obviously thought I was best fit for the position.” It was no secret that Lily despised James, or that whenever they were in the same room together there was bound to be some sort of shouting match between the two of them—James usually pestering her by asking her on a date while she responded with a few choice, rather vicious, words. But she needed to understand that he wasn’t James and neither was he Sirius, he was Remus John Lupin and he was a gentleman who in no way, shape, or form, felt any animosity and dislike for her and deep down it bothered him that she didn’t feel the same way about him as he did about her. He opened his mouth to respond to her but closed it quickly when he heard a familiar voice call out to him before feeling a pair of arms squeeze his shoulders in a friendly manner, glancing to the side in surprise he let out a sigh. “ Oi, mate. ” Giving Sirius a reproachful look for indirectly insulting the red-head by comparing her to some sort of unwanted pest. “ Pads, it’s clear that our presence isn’t wanted here, perhaps we should just head out and find Prongs and Wormtail. If we hurry I bet we could still find an open compartment somewhere.” Remus didn’t feel like playing mediator today and he certainly didn’t feel like watching a row break out between his best mate and Lily Evans. A malodorous scent wafted towards Remus before he had time to react to Sirius’ actions and he found himself subconsciously bringing his right hand up to his face, cupping his hand over his nose to attempt to block out the disgusting, sulfurous aroma of Sirius’ fart. “ Mate, that’s disgusting.” In all honesty, he really should’ve been used to rude behavior from Sirius [and James] by now but it never ceased to amaze him how uncaring his friends could be sometimes. It was just giving Lily more reason to dislike him and his group of friends… [/blockquote] T A G G E D * Evans, Sirius, James C R E D I T S * I Just Had Sex - Lonely Island;;

**************** Can we pretend that airplanes IN THE NIGHT SKY Are like shooting stars. I could really use a wish right now, WISH RIGHT NOW, Wish right now. **************** “Er…excuse me?” Lily rolled her eyes at Lupin's response. Why the bloody hell was he so shocked to hear this? "You're really surprised, Lupin? After all the bullshit your lot dished out last year, did you really expect me to be cordial towards you?" She sneered, and she couldn't help but notice that the action was far to foreign for her. "Just leave, Lupin. I don't feel like dealing with Potter or Black today," she sighed, crossing her arms. A stray hair fell before her eyes, and she blew it away. “I’ve never doubted Dumbledore’s judgment and neither should you. Whether you see it or not, he obviously thought I was best fit for the position.” Lily scoffed, "I never thought I'd see the day that Dumbledore decided to appoint a coward Prefect," she spat coldly, hating herself for every word. She really didn't despise Lupin, but what he had done...he didn't realize what he had helped his friends do. "It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, Remus," Lily said, shaking her head sadly, "But it takes a great deal more to stand up to your friends. When are you going to realize that?" She knew that Remus didn't like Severus, but damn it! He knew that Potter and Black had done was wrong, and had done nothing to stop it! That was almost as bad as hexing Snape himself. Doing nothing to stop wrongdoings and actually committing them were two very different things, but they both balanced at the very edge of a fine line.
Lily clenched her fists at the sound of Black's arrival. How did she know this was going to happen? Oh, yeah, where one toerag goes, three more follow him. She'd forgotten. "See you found us a...This one's infested, we can't sit here." Lily scowled at Black, "Yes, please, escort yourself and your friend out of the compartment before I resort to spraying Raid," she retorted, glaring at the Gryffindor.
"Look here, Evans, you're going to learn who you're speaking to, yeah? Remus is ten times the Prefect, friend and Gryffindor you'll ever be." Black snapped, putting his luggage in the car, and reaching back for Remus' stuff. Lily narrowed her eyes, "Oh, yes, because standing up to your friends is far below Gryffindor standards. The best kind of Gryffindor sits around and does nothing while two imbecilic toerags bully those they deem are 'below them'." Lily's scowl deepened when Black sat down beside her, smirking, blatantly ignoring Lupin's sensible plea to leave the compartment. Lily eyed him suspiciously. What was he up to? "Here's a nice hex for you." He said as he lifted his left leg, and let out a rather disgusting noise. He inhaled deeply, "Smell that? It smells like defeat." Lily resisted the urge to laugh at the boy's antics. However disgustingly funny it was, the Gryffindor Prefect refused to let the boy she loathed even think that he had amused her. "Charmingly clever, Black," she replied sarcastically, plugging her nose. ~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ Another year for the entire gang, their sixth year to be accurate. Six years, they were almost to top, actually they practically were the top. The seventh years were basically holding their seats for their empire next year. It was a fact that next year the Marauders would rule the school, they were the most popular kids. Most of the student body worshiped them the other feared them of their infamous pranks. That was the way James liked it, one of the other things James liked was his objectives for this year. The top being making Lily Evans go out with him. That sexy redhead had been on his mind esince last year. Although their last meeting wasn't the best thanks to his nemesis Severus Snape. A rotten human being who caused terror with the rest of his Slytherin friends. They were the opposite of the Marauders in his mind. McNair, Goyle, Crabbe, Malfoy, Black, well not his Black anyway but the two viper females he had for cousins. Narcissa and Bellatrix, those deadly snakes were probably on the prowl for their meal ticket. He walked around wanting to see one of his friends he dearly missed, Sirius had spent most of the summer with him. Remus he was wanting to see and Peter as well although the timid boy would surely find him eventually.
He brushed his messy hair aside, although it had no style to it, girls loved it. Adjusting his glasses his checked the compartments, seeing some of his friends including the new faces that said hello to him. Oh and the weaker looking ones, possible targets he put in his mind. Grinning to himself, he heard the voice of not one but two of his best mates, Remus and Lupin. He surged toward the comaprtment wanting to desperatley see his friends. Letting his foot come up he kicked in the door to the apartment so it opened with a bang. "Well look at the motley crew we have here." he said seeing Remus and Sirius, their faces stirring what he lvoed most about Hogwarts. He couldn't contain his true happiness with what could be a geniune smile.
"Remus! Sirius! How I've missed you mates!" he said almost hugging his crew but noticed another face in the compartment. The face that had dazzled him since he first started a Hogwarts, the face of the one who he loved but the face that also hated him. It was Lily Evans. "Lily.."was the only words that came out of his mouth.

EVERYONE THINKS THAT I HAVE IT ALLC A S T L E W A L L SBUT IT'S SO E M P T Y LIVING BEHIND THESE If he wasn't mistaken, the most offended one by his...outburst was Remus. He was glad Evans had some sort of sense of humor. She had one saving grace it seemed, she wasn't as much of a girl as Moony was. He reclined, and he put his arms behind his head. "I do love the smell of my own brand, but it's not roses..." He said, wafting. Smile crossed his lips, "Smells like the Great Hall at Christmas in here!"
His attention went to the doors as it was occupied again. There was another joining them. He smiled, waving from his seat beside the redhead. "Afternoon, Potter." He said with a cheeky grin. He slung his arm over the back of the seat, "Yeah, Lily. We're having a nice bonding session in here, smell it?" His expression was jovial. He loved being an asshole, it came naturally to him, and he loved it.
He motioned to the seat next to Remus and he smiled. "How was the trip here? I know I saw you a few days ago, but what's new with everyone? And by everyone I mean them, not you. It's man-time now Evans; go make me a sandwich like a good girl, yeah? You should probably hurry though, trains leaving soon."

His jaw clenched so tightly that he could almost hear his jawbone grinding in protest, Lily was really trying to push his buttons today, wasn’t she? Remus didn’t get angry very often, he was tolerable of a lot of things and didn’t usually get riled up but she was outright insulting him and his mates right now and it seemed as if she wanted to grind his gears. Remus was quite used to hearing her spout insults and clever little quips in retaliation to Prongs acting like an imbecile and even on occasion he’d walk in on her and Padfoot going back and forth as well, but what he wasn’t used to was being on the receiving end of one of Evans’ angry tirades.
“I have no reason to stand up to my friends—sure their pranks may be rather immature but no one ever gets hurt because of them. Sure, someone may be humiliated and their pride may be shattered but no one ever gets physically harmed. ” Remus drew in a shaky breath, “ When they start intentionally hurting people is when I’ll step in and stop them. I’m not going to let them, or anyone else for that matter, attack and injure another person. I understand that you’re opinion of them, and me, are biased because you’re friends with Sniv—Snape, but we’ve never done anything to seriously harm him.” Now, Snape’s pride on the other hand…they had gone out of their way on many occasions to shatter the greasy Snake’s pride—Sirius and James loved making a game out of seeing how bad they could humiliate Snape. Most of the time Remus wasn’t involved with those particular plans, but he was usually around when they went through with them. He watched the exchange between Sirius and Lily, and decided that he desperately needed to convince Sirius to leave the compartment with him before things got too out of hand. Not to mention he still felt mildly offended that Evans had been so cross with him, that and…Sirius’ fart was still lingering in the compartment, the malodor of it adding to the already uncomfortable atmosphere of the room. Remus jumped when the door to the compartment was kicked in, banging against his foot which had been a little too close to the entrance, followed by James entering the compartment. The Prefect bit his lip, wincing in pain from his throbbing foot and scooting it closer to him and safely away from the door as his best mate sauntered into the room and gave both him and Sirius hugs. “ Ugh, remember that the rest of us in here are breathing too, mate.” He scrunched up his nose in disgust, attempting to hold his breath in for as long as he possibly could in hopes that when the desire to breathe in once again would arise that the stench would have already dissipated and it would be safe to breath in once again. Now that 3/4s of the Marauders were present in Lily’s compartment he could only imagine what sort of drama would unfold, especially when it seemed as if she loathed all three of them with a passion as fiery as her hair…

“I have no reason to stand up to my friends—sure their pranks may be rather immature but no one ever gets hurt because of them. Sure, someone may be humiliated and their pride may be shattered but no one ever gets physically harmed.” Lily raised an incredulous eyebrow at Lupin. Did he not remember that Black and Potter had almost suffocated Severus at the lake last year when they jinked his mouth with Scourgify? Remus drew in a shaky breath, “When they start intentionally hurting people is when I’ll step in and stop them. I’m not going to let them, or anyone else for that matter, attack and injure another person. I understand that you’re opinion of them, and me, are biased because you’re friends with Sniv—Snape, but we’ve never done anything to seriously harm him.” Lily could not believe what she was hearing. "Never physically harmed? Are you bloody kidding me, Lupin? What do you call scourgifying Severus' mouth last year and making him nearly choke? What about when Potter 'saved' Severus from whatever was in the Whomping Willow? Merlin knows what was down there, but apparently your friends saw fit to lure him in there, only to have Potter chicken out at the last minute. What about all the times your lot threw stinging hexes at him when he was least expecting it, or the tripping jinxes thrown at him when he was conveniently going up or down the moving staircases? Yeah, that's not intentionally hurting someone. How could I be so stupid not to realize that?" Before Lily knew it, she had given the boy a full-on lecture. Instead of replying to his next statement, Lily shook her head at him. Giving him a sad smile, she whispered, "I know you never intentionally mean to hurt him, Remus. But by doing nothing to stop his tormentors who were not only harming him physically, but mentally and emotionally as well, you hurt him, too. However unintentional it may be, the Marauders have been nothing but a band of boys pretending to be men by punishing those they don't like simply 'because they exist'." The young Prefect bit her lower lip as she recited Potter's words to her that day by the lake. "They're not friends, Remus. And I can tell you with complete honesty that, should you or I be placed in Slytherin, we would have been treated just as bad as they treated Severus. They like to believe that they're better than the pureblood maniacs that support You-Know-Who, but they're not. If they truly were better, then they wouldn't judge someone based on which house they live in, just like, if the pureblood maniacs were better than the Marauders, they wouldn't judge someone based on their 'blood purity.'" Taking a deep, steadying breath, Lily added, "Just some food for thought, Remus."
Sirius reclined, and he put his arms behind his head. "I do love the smell of my own brand, but it's not roses..." The arrogant Marauder said, wafting. Lily could not contain the disgusted grimace that escaped. "Smells like the Great Hall at Christmas in here!" Lily rolled her eyes at the boy's antics. "If the Great Hall ever smelled this rank at any point in time, I doubt I would ever enter it again." Waving the rancid smell away from her face, she gagged, "Let's pray the fumes don't kill any brain cells; wouldn't want to give Potter any more of an incentive to think I'll date him, would I?"
"Well look at the motley crew we have here." Lily froze at the sound of Potter's voice. Just her luck. Of course the Marauders would pick the compartment she'd decided to sit in. Karma was clearly being generous today. "Remus! Sirius! How I've missed you mates!" The toerag said, acting as though he were about to hug his possy but noticed her at the last moment. Lily's face flushed in anger when Potter said her name, her first name, as though he had any right after what he did. Scowling, the redhead replied curtly. "Potter."
"Afternoon, Potter." Black replied to Potter's greeting with a cheeky grin. He slung his arm over the back of the seat, "Yeah, Lily. We're having a nice bonding session in here, smell it?" His expression was jovial, and Lily wanted nothing more than to smack the arrogant smirk off of the boy's face, to tell him that he was no less judgemental or cruel than the rest of his family was, but she didn't. No. She would not stoop to his level and make him feel as horrid as he always made her feel. "Yes, I see that you've marked your 'territory,' you disgusting dog. Kindly stop reminding us," Lily snapped.
Black motioned to the seat next to Remus and he smiled. "How was the trip here? I know I saw you a few days ago, but what's new with everyone? And by everyone I mean them, not you. It's man-time now Evans; go make me a sandwich like a good girl, yeah? You should probably hurry though, trains leaving soon." Lily stared at him in surprised rage. "How dare you? Do I look like some kind of bumbling, idiotic, pureblooded housewife? FUCK you, Black! I absolutely refuse to put up with this bag of shite! I've heard enough of it from my sister to last me a lifetime, so if you would kindly stuff it and leave your scathing comments at that filthy manic pureblooded mansion your family is so proud of, I would appreciate it!" Shoving said Black out of the way, Lily stood atop of the seat and tried to pull her trunk down. When it wouldn't budge, she pulled harder. In her anger, Lily hadn't bothered to be too careful about how she should best go about getting her luggage down. As a result, when the latch got caught and suddenly popped open, different personal items flying through the air, Lily was left standing in what could only be described as the single most mortifying situations in all her time at Hogwarts. Resting on Black's lap was a pair of lacy white knickers her sister had gotten her, as she'd always said that she was sure Lily was 'quite the slag at that freak school.' On the other side of the compartment, several school papers were strewn about around Remus, but the paper that caught her eye was the letter from Tuney that was flying right in front of the young Prefect's face. He couldn't read that letter; it was from Tuney, the only proof that what she said had been true. The only thing that would prove to Potter and his lot that her parents were dead, that she had no one.
Worse than that was Potter. On his lap was the most important possession she had. A single photograph, but it meant the world to Lily. Her mother and father, the former redhaired, the latter dark-haired, holding each other in a tight embrace, a smile on her mother's face as she stood beside Lily's father in a white gown and a veil. That photograph was the only thing Tuney hadn't taken away from her, because she had always had it. If Potter had it, then she would have nothing left of them. No memories, no chance to ever see them again. Holding out a shaky hand, Lily stared at Potter with pleading eyes. "Give that back to me, Potter," Lily said in a calm voice, only to be betrayed by it as it broke on his name.
