What a crummy day this had turned out to be, Lenore mused miserably. Instead of going to the rest of her classes that day she had opted for skipping them completely and hiding out in the Astronomy Tower where she was certain she wouldn’t be bothered since the class that took place here wouldn’t be taking place any time soon. She just needed to get away from the taunts and teases of the other students, Nori wasn’t used to being made out to be a fool, she was content with her previous lifestyle of, basically, being the quiet and studious girl who no one knew the name. Now? Well, people definitely knew who she was now and it wasn’t exactly wanted attention.
“What a terrible day…what am I going to do?” She choked on her sobs. Funny, she’d been crying all day and here she sat hours later and was still able to shed a tear. Vaguely she wondered if she’d ever run out of tears. When her mother [well, adoptive mother] had died did she run out of tears at some point then? She couldn’t remember, despite the fact that it had only been a few short years ago since the death of Mrs. Taylor. Regardless, Lenore needed to do something about this, anything to veer the attention away from her and her less than platonic relationship with Kat.
What had she ever done to the writer of the Tattler that would illicit such an article to be written in the first place? Lenore was a good girl, never did anything to anger or upset anyone, never hurt anyone physically or emotionally—her conscience was virtually spotless, not a blemish or a scuff at all! Or maybe whoever had written it didn’t need a reason to ruin people’s lives, maybe they got off on it like some sick sadist. Just the thought made Lenore’s stomach lurch uncomfortably and she felt like if she had eaten lunch or dinner then she would’ve emptied her stomach that very moment. But as it stood, she hadn’t eaten anything all day, preferring to stay alone in the tower away from the rest of the castle. She wasn’t usually such a recluse, though she wasn’t exactly outgoing either…but she made an effort every now and then to be sociable—usually by Kat’s request. She didn’t know how she could possibly face her peers again after that article had gotten out.
She hugged her knees tightly to her chest, her eyes red-rimmed and puffy from crying all day, her school uniform was crumpled and wrinkly and her wavy blond locks were in complete and utter disarray. All in all, Lenore looked a mess, but her appearance was the last thing on her mind. She just wanted to disappear—to close her eyes…and when she opened them she would be some place new…

i need a n o t h e r story something to get off my c h e s t • • • • •
Katara could not believe that there was an updated issue of the school paper out. She figured that after the first, not many kids would care and it would end there. Boy was she wrong. She had been wandering around the school and girls were giving her extra rude looks and the guys around her were shouting cat calls at her. It was more odd than normal. She had read in someones mind that the tattler had a new issue. She had to find it and read it. She thought the whole thing was completely ridiculous, but she did have fun filling in the girl about the whole thing with Ave, Sirius, and James.
After a bit of searching, she snatched a paper from some girl. She didn't even bother to look at her after she made some rude comment towards Kat. She tore through the paper and scanned the article. Fuck. That was all that ran through her head. She needed to find Lenore. She had no idea where the blonde would be hiding, but she knew she was. Something like this has never happened to the girl and Katara felt so bad. As soon as she found her...she wasn't sure what she was going to do, but it had to be something.
She felt horrible for dragging her friend into this. What they did was just for them. No one else was ever going to find out and they were happy with it, but now...the whole school knew. Katara threw the paper onto the ground and started running through the school. She had to find Nori. That was the only thing on her mind. Find her friend and console her. There was no telling what kids were going to do to her and Kat was not going to let that happen.
Katara was beyond upset. She couldn’t believe what had been published in the tattler. She was going to kill whoever it was that found out and told the Gossip Queen. She was absolutely livid. She was ready to pounce on anyone that shot her a dirty look. And none of this was because she was outted for being into both boys and girls, this was because it outted poor Lenore also. They trusted each other with that secret and now someone went and told. Now the entire school knows.
Katara could care less what everyone thought about her. Hell, she posed in lingerie for her muggle modeling career. So the school knowing she liked sleeping with chicks was the least of her problems. She had been through the entire castle at least twice and she couldn’t find the blonde. She had made her way up to the towers. That was the only place she hadn’t checked. She had skipped all her classes just to find her friend. She knew no one else would be up here. Astronomy didn’t start for a few hours, so most of the towers were empty.
She got to the top of all the stairs she stopped to catch her breath and see if she could find her with her thoughts. She had done it before, but she wasn’t too far away from her last time. She closed her eyes and concentrated. It wasn’t long to find the disarray of thoughts hiding away in the Astronomy tower. Katara ran up some more stairs and opened the door to the tower her friend was hiding in. Not saying a word, she went straight over to Lenore, letting the door slam behind her. She knelt down on the floor next to her and wrapped her arms around her friend, pulling her close. “I am so sorry, Lenore,” she whispered.
