Shou felt a little disheartened by the turn of events that had lead to his peaceful Halloween night out with his best mates to turn into a complicated mess involving time travel and being stuck in the past. Despite the fact that he and the other ‘time-travelers’ had been here in 1976 for close to two months now it still felt completely new to him and he was certain that this wasn’t something that you could just get used to. It wasn’t right, this wasn’t his time or his home and he actually found himself missing his family [to an extent] and the few friends that he did have. The only thing he, and anyone else in this situation, could really do was hope for the best and that Dumbledore and the other adults would figure something out that could potentially put an end to this bizarre vacation and send everyone back to their own time. Though, Shou wasn’t usually a very optimistic person, nor was he a pessimist, he was more of a realist and chose to see the logic in life rather than believe in something that was unlikely.
Currently, the 7th year found himself sitting in the far corner of the Three Broomsticks, by himself, and sipping at a half-full glass of Butterbeer that had become room-temperature and wet with condensation. He wasn’t really paying too much attention to his beverage and had only ordered the butterscotch-y drink so that he wouldn’t get kicked out of the pub for loitering. His attention was more focused on the foggy windows and what lay beyond the frosty glass, it was a Hogsmeade weekend and so that meant that the streets were crowded with students, bundled up from head to toe in scarves and various other winterwear. Though, that also meant that the shops and, more specifically, the pubs were incredibly crowded and kept busy with students who sought an escape from the bone-chilling cold, so they’d wander inside and bask in the warmth of the pub. The chatter from the tables surrounding him seemed amplified and almost unbearably loud, as opposed to the quiet conversations that he had first heard when he’d walked into the pub, almost 2 hours ago and before the afternoon rush had happened.
He didn’t really know what to do with himself, it was a lazy Saturday afternoon, albeit a tad chilly and he would have preferred to stay in the warmth of the Ravenclaw Tower but he spent so much time there that he just needed a change! So he figured he’d take full advantage of Hogsmeade weekend and pay a visit to his usual stops. Thankfully, the tiny village seemed exactly the same as he remembered it from his time, with the exception of much younger witches and wizards running the shops, but he could get used to that, he supposed. It was nice to have some sense of familiarity… words; 487 tagged; OPEN outfit; Herre~notes; Haii :) credit; JADE <3 lyrics; "Just the way I'm not" - ATL

Natsume had decided to leave the castle for the hogsmeade trip for various reasons. One was because there were just no way she was going to stay cooped up in the castle, 2 was because she was in 1976, and therefore wouldn't be writing to parents or anything like that, and 3:, she was in 1976. She wanted to see what Hogsmeade looked like in the past. Sure, she missed her family back in her time, excluding her sister that she knew was here, but she seemed to be adapting better than the rest of those now stuck 20 years in their past. But of course, she was always different from other's and was curious. She looked at it as a means of exploring, getting to see how things actually looked and were back then. She could only guess what Hogsmeade looked like. Though, she was somewhat surprised that like the castle, it was relatively the same, other than items sold and that some of the employees were much younger looking. But she walked around in her jacket and jeans and went to every shop in hogsmeade. She had been tempted to buy a broom just because she always enjoyed flying so much. But she didn't want to be walking around with it the rest of the day. Though, the downside to her running around (literally) all of Hogsmeade was that now she was really thirsty. She had actually gotten turned around in all her excitement, and had trouble getting to it in the now crowded town. Once she got to the three broomsticks, she found that the place was totally packed. She managed to duck and weave her way through the crowds to the counter, trying to ignore the noise and the constantly getting jostled as people all around her enjoyed themselves. She managed to get her drink ordered, though when she checked her pockets they were empty. She gave a nervous laugh as she opened her jacket, checking the vest pockets and finding she had accidentley left it in a chest pocket. She payed for her drink and managed to get away from the counter where it was too crowded even for her and get past all the people standing towards some tables. She looked for a place to sit, but the only potential place was in the far corner where a boy was sitting alone. Wasn't he from her year, both in grade and historically speaking? She couldn't quite recall but she made her way over regardless, bowing slightly as she said "Excuse me but is it alright if I sit here?" She asked with her usual pleasant voice and smile. She still had her jacket on, but it was open to show the grey cargo vest and back sweater below. Despite her personality and affinity for bright colors, she actual kinda liked wearing the dark colors, as for her outfit choice, it may have seemed strange to some, especially in this time period but, well Natsume was Natsume, she was always a little different. Besides, you never knew when you'd need extra pockets. (The color for the vest is a off, but this is the closet to her actual outfit I can get.)

Shou wasn’t paying much attention to the inside of the pub or the crowds of students and adults alike who had found refuge from the cold in the warm and friendly atmosphere of The Three Broomsticks. After a while all the faces just melted together and looked the same, all cherry-cheeked with scarves wrapped tightly around their necks, glove-clad fingers... He didn’t care, they paid him no attention and vice-versa. His mind was wandering back to the day he’d first arrived here, in this time that is, he had just gotten out of detention for starting another fight with a fellow classmate and he and his 3 close mates had decided to go out and celebrate his ‘freedom’ by having a pint at one of the local pubs and possibly heading out to a Halloween Party afterwards. However, they never got to enjoy the night as they had originally planned and Shou was left to wonder what the hell had happened?!. He wanted to go home. Not because he missed his family or anything silly like that, in all truth they would’ve probably sent him another reprimanding letter telling him how disappointed they were in him for being so violent towards his fellow classmates. No, he wanted back his sense of familiarity and while things were relatively the same here as they had been in his time, location-wise at least, he felt as if it wasn’t…at the same time. He and his sister were supposed to visit their grandparents in Osaka during the summer holidays and now it was looking less and less likely by the minute that they’d be able to make the trip because it didn’t look like their predicament would be solved any time soon.
"Excuse me but is it alright if I sit here?"
He glanced over at the girl that stood to the side of him and his table, his dark eyes briefly roving over her in a bored and disinterested fashion before he shrugged his shoulders. “Yeah, sure.
” Though he did recognize her from his own time which was a tad better than having some kid from this era coming up and asking permission to sit with him. Absently, Shou wrapped his fingers around the handle of his mug and took another swig of his drink, his lips pulled into a slight frown when he realized that the cream on top had separated during the time that the beverage had sat there untouched. Scrunching up his nose, he flagged down a barmaid and asked for a new drink. Natsume looked at the boy as she waited for a reply, then noticing the Ravenclaw house scarf he was wearing. She looked on as he looked her over first before giving her an okay to sit at the table with him. "Arigato" she said, putting her drink down by the chair across from him before pausing as if she had realized something, namely that she had been using Japanese to thank him. "oh, umm... I mean Thank you" she said, her voice and tone showing more she was correcting herself than anything else. She didn't assume the boy knew the language just by looking at him, but didn't rule out the possibility he did. But she always tried to catch and correct herself anyway since while in England she was supposed to actually use English. Even more so in this era because there were even fewer people that seemed to had a clue what she was saying when she switched languages. She might as well have had two heads and a tail with the way most of them looked at her. She then pulled the chair out and sat down, watching as he took a swig of his drink and seemed displeased with it. She watched as he signaled a barmaid and asked for a new drink. Though, Natsume got distracted for a second since she was kind of cute.
She turned back as the barmaid vanished into the crowd and looked at her drink, before smiling and pushing it more towards the center of the table. "If you want you can have some of mine while you wait, I haven't touched it or anything." She said, just trying to be her usual self. Besides, with how crowded it was she could be back in seconds, or be a good while. "Your from 1995 like I am, right?" she then asked, sure she had seen him before getting pulled back to 1976. As much as she had tried to get to know as many people as she could, she didn't really have the time to get to know everyone there, for various reasons. "My names Natsume Clyne, but everyone calls me Cecily" she added, figuring she should at the very least introduce herself if he was going to be nice enough to let her sit here.

Shou tilted his head to the side and raised an eyebrow when she corrected herself, though he supposed that at least she hadn’t automatically assumed that he spoke Japanese—most people who saw him would automatically assume that he didn’t know English just because he was asian and that pissed him off to no end. At least she had the decency to assume that he might not know Japanese. He felt his lips quirk at the corners, forming an amused smirk, “You don’t have to correct yourself—I speak Japanese.
” Perhaps she made the same mistake that he did on occasion—since he was fluent in both English and Japanese sometimes he’d switch languages in the middle of a conversation without even realizing it. He didn’t usually realize it until he noticed the strange stares from the person on the opposite end of the conversation. But, he reasoned, it probably happened a lot with people who could speak more than one language so it really wasn’t all that strange of an occurrence. He wouldn’t call himself a germaphobe or anything of the sort, but he didn’t make a habit of drinking after strangers, even if he did go to school with them. She seemed rather sweet and probably had offered her drink out of polite gesture but that simply wasn’t his style—she seemed too nice and he was partially convinced that it was all an act. No one was that nice, right? Or maybe he was being too suspicious. Nonetheless, he shook his head, “ It’s fine, I can wait. But thanks anyway.” Shou offered a small smile to show her that he didn’t want to offend her or anything by not accepting her drink, he’d just prefer to have his own. He nodded his head, “ Yeah, I am and I wish they’d get this whole mess sorted out soon—I’d rather be in my own time, thank you very much.” Shou sighed before glance up at her, “ I’m Shou Riitaki, s’nice to meet you Natsume.” He found his accent slipping from Irish and back into his native Kansai accent—most Japanese folk who weren’t from the Kansai region would usually complain about people who spoke with Kansai accents because of the raw amount of slang that they used but Shou tried to tone done his words so that he didn’t confuse [or annoy?] her. Natsume was a little relieved when he said he could actually speak Japanese. She always got nervous about making a mistake and changing languages, especially if she started down a whole path and forgot where she started. It was not pleasant to get through a thought, only to be told that you had changed languages, and couldn't repeat it because you had forgotten. "It's sort of a habit." she said, the genuine smile she had had becoming forced for a second or two before being genuine again. At home in Japan, her sister looked more like there father, so she had always said about being different, and she had been right, Natsume didn't understand what it had been like for her, not till coming to England. Her being different was why 2 years ago those boys attacked her. Or, would it be 17 years from now? Or two years ago, from 19 years from now? She stopped herself there, otherwise she'd spend all day stuck on the paradox.
She then heard him say that he'd wait for his own, so she said "alright, your very welcome." pulling the drink back and taking a sip herself. She then heard him confirm what she thought, before introducing himself, the Irish accent dropping for kansai, one she knew oh so well from home. Her Grandparents tried to make it so she wouldn't use it... but she was still a Kyoto girl. "S'nice t' meet you too Shou" she replied, dropping her "more polished" as her grandfather would have said, Japanese accent for her natural Kansai one. She knew she had a bit of a habit of dropping more than normal when speaking, but she figured he'd be able to understand, or at the very least get the clues to what she said. "It's no' that bad, I wanna go home to, but this'll do for now, could be worse." she added, her accent floating back and forth a little. She used the other so often that despite being natural, it sort of conflicted when not trying to use it because it was so second nature. She would have liked to always use her natural accent... problem was over here teachers had enough trouble understanding her as it was.
