The holiday had seemed rather long for Rune. He had managed to get away thanks to Raven being a total bonehead and giving away that her cousins were there. Thankfully his uncle was smart enough to just want to see them and not really learn about them. But it gave him an opportunity to make cash doing some work for his uncle. It had been fairly hard, but he had a goal and had needed as much cash as he could get. He'd done his best however to keep in touch with Samantha over the break. Something that had his sister and cousins especially puzzled. He was still keeping them some what in the dark, not because he was afraid to talk about her and all, but because of their reactions, and he was still trying to figure out how to approach the vampire thing. Sure his family would accept her and all, granted they would probably need some time to warm up to that fact. Plus as much of a secret it was Raven definitely needed to be made aware. Unfortunately the two's taste in women tended to cross over and as much as he had girlfriends that said they were totally straight it wouldn't be the first time that half veela cousin of his proved otherwise. Did Rune care about that aspect no but having her finding out because Sam got carried away would be bad. He was just cautious about certain things and while the least likely to happen, it was sometimes best to expect the worst case scenario and be prepared.
Like when they found out what details they did. He had been dating her for over a month, and aside from the joking around about threesomes the idea never once crossed his mind, at least not in the sense of thinking of it for himself. He would get exhausted and while he knew she was enjoying herself and all was never sure if he was really satisfying her. Cripes she hardly broke a sweat and seemed to have plenty of energy left every time. Plus, he didn't have some other girl on the side, and overall was in a 1 person relationship for more than two weeks. His family wasn't sure if maybe he had finally snapped and had a breakdown or something, or if he was sick or enchanted by some spell. Even the possibility that she was a veela was raised. After all, Raven abused that trait often enough when it came to him.
But it made little difference in how he felt and all, just made him enjoy the idea of speaking with her and all privately more enticing. He liked just spending time quietly alone with her be it here in the room of requirement or in one of the sixth floor classrooms that wasn't used. It was all fun because they never knew what they were in for each time they got together. Sometimes they just sat and talked for a few hours, sometimes they had sex, sometimes they did other things. It was nice to just do what ever they felt like. It didn't even matter where they were either. They were just as fine in the abandoned classrooms, the dorm, wherever. He left the door to their usual room of requirements room slightly ajar so Samantha could get in as he sat on the sofa. Though this time the door ways had no doors save the bathroom and they were a bit bigger. One of the times after their first she had done the same push him off into the bedroom thing but hadn't realized the door was closed. He fiddled with a box in his hands for a bit before hiding it back away in his school uniform, which were the only clothes he had that were clean at the moment and still there thanks to his cousins mischief. Apparently the idea had been to just leave him with a pair of boxers but he was smart enough to have a spare outfit where she wouldn't find it. As much as Sam probably wouldn't have minded him coming in nothing but that. But he took his mind off of the box and the diamond necklace it contained. That was why he had worked so hard over the break and wanted it to be a surprise. Hard to do when your girlfriend could read minds. He had avoided getting her a ring, not knowing the size and well, not wanting that kind of mistake. He did love her that wasn't a question, as simple and plain as the necklace was that was why he got it, but he was certainly not ready for anything along the lines of proposing and confusion for that would have been a bit awkward. He just wasn't ready for a step like that, and it was rather conflicted to the idea of becoming a vampire. It's not that she had stipulated anything of the sort but when he looked at it, if he remained human, he'd grow older and eventually succumb to old age, even if for a wizard that was a bit longer than normal, which didn't seem fair to her, while on the other hand, he'd out live every other member of his family by centuries, a prospect that didn't fully sit well with him at the moment. One day he'd have to make a decision, but he was taking his time with it. Right now, he just hoped she liked the necklace, and that it wouldn't bother her, the metal that is. He had made sure to avoid silver since he could never keep straight if vampires were affected by silver or not. He felt given how they were he should get her something for Christmas, which was the other reason his family thought he'd gone mad as a hatter, he had bought things for girls before but never anything like this. Though he had no idea what to get Samantha and this had been the first thing to come to mind.
