OVERVIEW:
As a child, Neville was skittish, and often very hard on himself. He wasn’t happy with himself more often than not. He thought he was useless, and often said so. His own family even sort of thought that; useless in the sense he had no magic. They for a while thought him a squib, and even went to the extreme length of dropping him out a window to prove if he did have potential or not. Thankfully though, he did, or he wouldn’t be here as it were.
As he got older, and was sent to Hogwarts, he still thought himself very much of a burden to his fellow classmates, his family and his teachers. He thought the Sorting Hat made a mistake putting him in Gryffindor, and he was the target of bullying. He was an easy target, thanks to his low self-esteem. He eventually found that he did have the courage to stand up to people, though they were not bullies, they were his only friends, and he knew he could lose them, but he stood up to them anyhow, and they ended up putting a stop to his protests with an apologetic spell, but this did not end their friendship.
About his third year, he met someone who was a great influence on him, his defense against the dark arts teacher, Remus Lupin. As it turned out, with a bit of positive regard, he could thrive and become much better then he thought he could ever be. This teacher pushed him to do what he thought he couldn’t, and that lesson stuck with Neville, still has, even to this day. He didn’t think he could ever fight off a boggart, but he did, and look at him now. He was able to keep his head up when he walked down a hallway…sort of.
And, then there was the news that the boy who took his parents from him were free. This did it, really did. He felt more than self-loathing for once. He felt anger, and he wanted to channel the anger and be able to do something with it. He wanted to prove to his family, his friends and himself that he could do something; so when the day came that he had the chance, he would never let the people who took his world get away, and he still holds to that conviction.

SIBLINGS: None
OTHER IMPORTANT FIGURES: Paternal Grandmother; Augusta Longbottom. Great-Uncle Algie and his Great-Aunt Enid. He has a toad named Trevor.
WEALTH STATUS: Middle Class
BIRTHPLACE: London
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Hogwarts
OVERVIEW:
Frank and Alice Longbottom were Aurors, and Order of the Phoenix members. They were former Gryffindors, and they were good people. They were married in their early 20s, and nothing could have been better for the two. They were fighting the good fight, and they were doing very well at it. And, as the rest of the world was doing, they were preparing to move on with their lives. Alice became pregnant and on 30 July, 1980, she gave birth to a son. The two proudly named their son Neville Amos Longbottom, and he was their pride and joy.
Though, their pride would be short lived, much like their sanity. There was a prophecy given by Sybil Trelawney, and it spoke of a boy who would be born at the end of the 7th month, and would have the power to defeat the Dark Lord. This could have meant one of two people, and Neville was one of those people. The Dark Lord heard of this, and he singled out the families of those who had gotten away from him three times. He sought out the families of the Potters and the Longbottoms, and he had them gotten rid of. He took out the Potter’s themselves, and he had some of his toadies drive the Longbottoms insane, leaving baby Neville at the mercy of his critical paternal Grandmother, Augusta Longbottom.
As he grew, his family doubted his abilities from the get go. That was a real pick me up for his self-esteem. When his Great Uncle Algie got desperate enough to know if the boy was magic or not, he dropped toddler Neville from an upper story window, and merely let the boy fall. He was trying to see if his magic would kick in, or if he were a Squib. Though, thankfully for Neville, the magic kicked in, saving his life for the first time. Though this should have proved he had magic, his uncle thought it a potential fluke, and also tossed him off a pier a few years later, to see if he would sink or float. Again, thankfully, his magic saved his life.
Other than a few attempts on his life, Neville grew up rather normally. He grew up playing alone with toys his grandmother left for him to play with, and he didn’t talk to many people. He was given his father’s wand at age eleven, and he was sent his Hogwarts letter the same day. He wasn’t really terribly excited about the idea of being around others his own age, or like himself. He got enough grief for his lack of abilities at home, and he sometimes felt as though he had no real magic in him, so he could only imagine how bad it would be at a school full of magically talented kids.
But, as expected, he went. He was not thrilled to be there, he was nervous. So nervous in fact, he lost his pet the first day he was there. Trevor, his toad got away from him, and he ran into taunts from a blond runt named Draco Malfoy on his first day. Little did he know, the boy would be around for a long, long time; always causing trouble to for the shy Longbottom. Though some good did come out of his first days at Hogwarts, he met lifelong friends Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and most importantly, Harry Potter. Those three would change his life indefinitely.
His first years at Hogwarts were, at times very rough. He became very afraid of his potions master, and he always felt he wasn’t fit to be a Gryffindor. The hat made a mistake, that he’s sure of still. Though, he has proven at times, he can be a very worthwhile student, and friend. He has even stood up to his own friends at one point, and though they put him down for it, in the end, it won the House Cup for Gryffindor.
Things shifted a bit once his third year hit, and a new teacher proved he could bring out the best in Neville. The man’s name was Remus Lupin, and he helped Neville see that he wasn’t useless, that he could do it if he tried and didn’t doubt himself. This made all the difference in Neville’s life, and he still owes a debt of gratitude to the man.
His forth year was a bit more of a stretch for him, he ran into a teacher who was not who he seemed, and who enjoyed singling him out to make him nervous. This wasn’t any good for Neville, and whatever good had been done, was reversed to some extent. The Triwizading Tournament didn’t help much either, but it turned out one good thing did come from the year, he learned he had a knack for dancing.
This year? Nothing made sense anymore, and he didn’t know what else to expect from this twisted year. He knew some of the people who attacked his parents were free, and he wouldn’t rest until his parents were avenged.
